Dejphon Chansiri Biography
Chansiri’s family controls the Thai Union Group, the world’s largest producer of canned tuna. The Chansiri family is estimated by Forbes to be worth $720m as of 5/7/19. In January 2015, a consortium led by Chansiri acquired a 100% stake in Sheffield Wednesday from Milan Mandarić for £37.5m and targeted promotion to the Premier League by 2017.
During the summer of 2015, Chansiri changed many aspects of the Sheffield Wednesday set-up including the backroom staff and players, such as sacking manager Stuart Gray and replacing him with Carlos Carvalhal, who had previously managed Turkish side Besiktas and several clubs in his home country of Portugal.
His siblings if he has any are not known.
The wife of Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has been named as a director of the club’s parent company in one of a handful of the latest structural changes to the owner’s business empire.
It is understood though that Tipparut Chansiri, who was already listed as a shareholder in a number of the family’s businesses including the Thai Union Frozen Products, will not take on any role as a director of the football club.
She becomes the director of Wednesday’s parent company SWFC Holdings Limited, based in Hong Kong and owned by Dejphon Chansiri, who in turn has effectively owned the club since July 2018.
The change has been listed on Companies House alongside the moving of shares from SWFC Holdings Ltd to Sheffield 2, one of the firms set up by Dejphon Chansiri around the time of the controversial sale of Hillsborough.
The names of his children have not been revealed.
The Chansiri family is estimated by Forbes to be worth $720m as of 5/7/19.
