About

Jenna Johnson is a ballroom dancer and choreographer who made her competitive debut on Dancing With the Stars during season 23.

Born in California, Johnson was raised in Provo, Utah. She is a five-time U.S. National Latin Champion and three National Contemporary Winner. One year after she represented the United States at the World Latin Dance Champions, Johnson auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance in 2013.

After wowing the season 10 judges, Johnson was partnered with contemporary dancer Tucker Knox and eliminated after getting to the top 8. She returned as a mentor on So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation in 2016 and has performed as an all-star.

Following her SYTYCD stint, the Latin dancer joined the DWTS troupe during season 18 in 2014. After four seasons, she transitioned to the professional role, competing on the ABC show for the first time in 2016 with Jake T. Austin. Johnson did not return for season 24, but she rejoined the troupe for season 25 before coming back as a pro in 2018 with partner Adam Rippon. The pair took home the mirrorball trophy during the season 26 finale.

Johnson went on to be paired with Joe Amabile, Karamo Brown, Nev Schulman and JoJo Siwa, finishing as runner-up with both Schulman and Siwa.

The athlete got engaged to fellow DWTS pro Val Chmerkovskiy in 2018, and the pair tied the knot one year later.
