What Happened To Jerry Dammers’ Teeth?
A pint glass was pushed into his face in a Coventry nightclub which caused him to lose his molar.
It influenced him to compose “Ghost Town,” “Nite Klub,” and other songs that marked the early 1980s and established The Specials as one of the most distinctive and influential bands in British popular music.
He also introduced Simple Minds to producer Tony Hollingsworth, and they became the first large artist to accept to appear at Hollingsworth’s Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute show, which was televised internationally from Wembley Stadium in London.
Dammers earned the Q Merit Award from Q magazine in October 2000. Dammers continues to DJ in English nightclubs and perform with his band.
